COLUMBIA: Several shots were fired in the first block of South 8th Street around 6:30 a.m. on January 1, police said. Officers found three 9mm shell casings on the road, but could not see any damage to vehicles and buildings nearby, police said.

COLUMBIA: Ismael Lopez Jr., 26, of Columbia, was charged with theft after he was seen removing the license plate from a vehicle in the 200 block of Lawrence Street at around 12:20 p.m. on September 14, police said. Lopez then asked the owner of the license plate to give him money in order to get it back, police said.
