Ford Mustang 2022 gets new visuals and performance packages
On the V8. Over the past decade, Ford has relaunched the iconic California Special Mustang as a tribute to the original package developed with Shelby American in 1968. Today, for the first time, Ford is adding the optional GT Performance package for Cali-spec ‘ d cars.
The California Special package is already available for the 2021 model year Mustang, which means that many of its visual additions will come as no surprise to seasoned pony fans. Unique 19-inch five-spoke wheels, a special honeycomb grille and heritage-inspired graphics immediately identify a California Special. Buyers who go for the GT package get a bit more dynamism thanks to a larger front splitter and performance rear spoiler.
While this is more than just a look set, it doesn’t add more ponies to the already generous 460 horsepower 5.0-liter V8 under the hood. suspension work and stability.
To tighten the car in the corners, Ford gave it a lower ride height with a stiffer spring rate. Additional stiffness has been added with a K-brace, subframe v-brace, strut tour brace and a tubular rear stabilizer bar. Additional grip is provided by the Torsen limited-slip differential and the car’s unique stability control tuning. Finally, six-gun Brembo calipers nestle behind the 19×9-inch front wheels for extra stopping power, while a slightly wider 19×9.5 rear setup completes the quirky muscle car look.
