DiBenedetto gets a full-time truck ride

Matt DiBenedetto has joined Rackley WAR for the 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season.

“I can honestly say that at this point in my career I’m really excited. I feel like I’m going back to my roots in so many ways. I love the feeling you get immediately when you talk to Curtis, Willie, Chad; all the guys around this organization, ”Dibenedetto said in a team statement. “They are all fierce runners and everyone is extremely dedicated. This opportunity is a blessing for me and I’m really excited to do my part to take this team to the next level.

DiBendetto has spent the last two seasons at Cup Series level driving the Wood Brothers # 21 Ford Mustang. During this span he scored six top five and 20 top 10 and on several occasions he was able to secure his first career victory. The team will have Harrison Burton as their driver in 2022.

“We have a lot of great people around this racing store and in a lot of other places,” said co-owner Willie Allen. “This will be our second year of alliance with GMS Racing and we are really grateful for everything they do for us. We will continue our OEM alliance with GM and Chevrolet, and we are extremely grateful for the resources they make available to us.

The 2022 season will mark DiBenedetto’s first foray into the Truck Series. Chad Kendrick will be DiBenedetto’s team leader.

Last season was Rackley WAR’s first year in the Truck series. Timothy Peters competed for the team in 10 races before breaking up. After Peters left, the team used Josh Berry, Allen and Brett Moffitt as pilots.
