Front Row Motorsports has elected to drop the appeal on an L-2 penalty that was assessed to Michael McDowell’s No. 34 Ford Mustang following the July 24 event at Pocono Raceway, the team announced. . in a report tuesday.

“After further evaluating the penalties imposed on its No. 34 NASCAR Cup Series team, Front Row Motorsports has advised NASCAR that it will drop its appeal and accept the penalty. The team has made internal changes to their build practices to ensure the issues leading to the penalties won’t reoccur in the future.

The penalty against McDowell and Front Row Motorsports came after it was discovered at the NASCAR R&D Center that the organization had modified a single-sourced part.

As a result, McDowell and #34 Front Row Motorsports earned 100 Driver and Owner points and 10 Playoff points. Additionally, Blake Harris – crew chief on the #34 Ford Mustang – was fined $100,000 and suspended for the next four NASCAR Cup Series events.

Chris Yerges, chief engineer for the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports team, will serve as interim crew chief for Michael McDowell’s entry starting this weekend at Michigan International Speedway.

McDowell is riding a two-straight top-10 streak after an eighth-place finish on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.

Joey Logano (right) will potentially sign a new contract in the near future.

Roger Penske has addressed one of the biggest questions of the season. He told NASCAR Cup Series fans to “stay tuned” to Joey Logano’s contract extension with Team Penske.

Penske made the comments to NBC Sports ahead of race weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was faced with questions about the driver for No. 22, as well as the possibility of signing Kyle Busch. Penske told fans to “stay tuned” regarding Logano’s contract before adding “I would say I’m smiling” to provide additional reassurance.

Logano is currently under contract with Team Penske until the end of the 2023 season. He will return to the No. 22 Team Penske Ford Mustang for at least one more campaign, but the team has remained vocal about its plans for the keep much longer.

The Penske team has already solved the biggest hurdle that would disrupt a potential deal. The Cup Series organization has signed a massive extension with Equilon Enterprises LLC (d/b/a Shell Oil Products US) and Pennzoil-Quaker State Company, both of which are major sponsors of Logano.

Logano has multiple wins in 2022

Joey Logan

GettyJoey Logano celebrates a win at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Logano entered the 2022 season with at least one victory in 10 consecutive Cup Series seasons. He had 27 in total, and he was aiming to add more while securing a place in the Championship Four in another even-numbered season.

Logano did just that despite performing inconsistently. He first reached Victory Lane at Darlington Raceway after brushing off William Byron. This run punched his ticket to the playoffs.

Logano then won for the second time at World Wide Technology Raceway while conquering another new addition to the Cup Series schedule. This second victory assures him of being in the playoffs even if more than 16 drivers win in the regular season.

Logano is now seventh in the standings after the first 21 races of the 2022 season. He is well above the playoff boundary line and he has the opportunity to add more points to his total before the playoffs start. . He will also sign a contract at some point in the near future, which will keep him in the #22 Ford for a considerable time.

Logano is unlikely to gain a new teammate

Penske remains focused on getting his three playoff drivers, but he has more questions to answer. The team owner must have wondered if he would consider bringing Kyle Busch into the building.

The short answer is no. Penske explained that the team remained happy with the pilots in the building. He also mentioned that Team Penske provides support for Wood Brothers Racing and the #21 car. Although Penske hasn’t completely stopped the idea of adding Busch. He said, “we’ll wait and see” in reference to the two-time champion’s contract situation.

“We really have four cars we’re involved in today,” Penske explained. “We support the Wood Brothers and obviously Harrison [Burton]. We’re full of riders and we’re happy with the guys we have there. They’re young and ready to go, and I think our sponsors are fully aligned with us.

Behind the scenes, a war is brewing between the Repco Supercars Championship and the organizers of Turtle Wax Trans Am.

It’s been brewing for more than two years and now it’s finally come to a head.

To understand what drives a wedge between two sports gatekeepers, one only has to look as far back as the cars themselves.

Stan Sport is the only place to watch the 2022 SpeedSeries with every race announcement streaming free, live and on demand. Start your Stan Sport free trial here!

Trans Am is a low-cost, high-entertainment racing series with loud NASCAR-style machinery and plenty of door-to-door action. With grids constantly around 30 cars, it has plenty of appeal.

Like Supercars, it has the Ford Mustang. He also has the Chevrolet Camaro, a car that is set to join the Supercars grid soon in 2023 under new Gen3 regulations. A point of difference for Trans Am on Supercars is the Dodge Challenger.

Recently, the Trans Am series caught the eye of Bathurst 1000 winner Shane van Gisbergen.

Earlier this year, the two-time Supercars champion sought to make his Trans Am debut at Mount Panorama, only to contract COVID-19 within days.

Although those plans were scuppered, there was talk of muzzling van Gisbergen and not telling the media about his Trans Am activities this weekend.

A scheduling conflict with the 24 Hours of Le Mans would prevent it from competing at Sydney Motorsport Park, but plans remained intact for the second half of 2022.

After a test at Queensland Raceway, his long-awaited competitive cameo at the same circuit was suddenly scratched amid “political pressure” from an unnamed source.

While his Triple Eight Race Engineering team claimed there was no outside influence, it is widely understood that Supercars management pressured the team to cancel the outing.

Simply put, Supercars didn’t think it was a good look for their championship leader to race in the de facto rival series.

Also keep in mind that van Gisbergen raced around the world racing sports cars and rally cars without any opposition.

Another Supercars star, Brodie Kostecki, is set to fill that Trans Am vacancy at the upcoming SpeedSeries round. However, there are even whispers that might not happen for the same reason.

Boost Mobile owner Peter Adderton, who sponsors Kostecki and teammate Will Brown in Supercars, has publicly said he would support the entry – although that is contingent on Erebus Motorsport’s approval.

The latest saga isn’t the first feud between Supercars and Trans Am, however.

Supercars’ first public act of hostility occurred two years ago at the Adelaide 500 when a photoshoot with two brothers, Brett and Lee Holdsworth, and their Trans Am Chevrolet Camaro and Supercars-spec Ford Mustang has been blocked.

Although Supercars shut it down, a cellphone photo (pictured at top of story) slipped out as Trans Am organizers pleaded their case.

“For the local newspaper and TV news, we pulled out Lee’s Ford Mustang and [Brett’s] Chevrolet Camaro Trans Am, put them on the front grill near the Adelaide Bridge and went to take a picture, ” Station Grant Rowley, Australian Racing Group podcast host and media manager, explained.

“The photoshoot was abruptly interrupted by someone from Supercars, who said ‘You can’t have these two cars next to each other!’

“Because at the time there was a lot of controversy about the Trans Am. Even just being at that event, the fact that those cars looked a lot alike.

“I don’t think Gen3 was launched at that time. We knew Gen3 was coming or some variation of Mustangs and Camaros or whatever.

“At that time there were a lot of sensitivities about Trans Am and this class and how it could be seen as a rival for Supercars. My big photo shoot plan was thwarted.”

Brett Holdsworth added: “You know what happened after that, right? Because I said to my team, ‘Dude, there’s no way I’m letting go. that without taking a picture.

“That little guy from Supercars, I don’t know who it was, but he was leaving. He was talking to you and someone else and I grabbed [my crew member] and I said to Lee, ‘Get back on the hood, we gotta take that picture!’ Dude, this is the most epic picture.”

It wasn’t until the 2021 Bathurst 1000, more than a year later, that Trans Am would once again feature on the Supercars support card.

Even it was only by force majeure when the Australian Racing Group, which had just acquired a stake in Supercars, had to close the calendar of its categories – thus merging the Bathurst 1000 events and the ill-fated Bathurst International events.

Via its stake in Racing Australia Consolidated Enterprises Ltd (RACE), the Australian Racing Group hoped Trans Am and its other categories would play a bigger role in the Supercars supporting roster.

This has not been the case and now the race promoter is seriously considering selling its share in the business unless attitudes within the RACE organization change.

Ultimately, RACE co-owner Barry Rogers wants a more inclusive holistic approach to Australian Racing Group categories, but he says his co-owners are only interested in Supercars.

It’s unclear if Kostecki will race Round 4 of Turtle Wax Trans Am as part of the SpeedSeries program, and if he doesn’t, it will only reaffirm suspicions that Supercars views the other V8 class as competition. .

Either way, a bumper grid of Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros and Dodge Challengers are set to head to Queensland Raceway for round five of the season from August 5-7.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation into multiple reports of ‘catastrophic engine failures’ at high speeds in 2021 Ford Bronco models, the the the wall street journal report today.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a filing made public this week that it is opening an official investigation into a series of reports involving 2021 Ford Bronco SUVs experiencing a loss of power at highway speeds. The probe covers nearly 25,500 vehicles, NHTSA said.

NHTSA said it has been considering whether to open an investigation into the potential defect since late May, when the agency said it received several petitions from Bronco owners regarding the alleged defect. In a meeting last month with Ford Motor, NHTSA staff learned that the alleged power loss was the result of catastrophic engine failures due to engine valve failure, the agency said in the filing. .

This action comes after 32 complaints Bronco owners were submitted to NHTSA’s Bureau of Defect Investigation. “Some barely avoided serious injury when their vehicles suffered a complete loss of power at highway speeds in traffic,” read one owner’s petition. According to NHTSA, no accidents or injuries have been linked to the alleged engine failures.

Ford would have refined the “root cause”, by WSJ, but did not respond to the publication’s request for comment:

Ford identified the root cause of the alleged fault as valve-piston interference in 2.7-liter EcoBoost engines, which can cause the engine to stall, NHTSA said. The regulator has identified 26 reports related to the Bronco’s alleged defect.

Jalopnik has also reached out to Ford for comment, and we’ll update this article with any response we receive.

Update at 1:40 p.m. ET: Ford Ccommunication Manager Jiyan Cadiz replied to Jalopnik with the following statement:

We are aware of a number of early launch engines that had this issue and are investigating. If any customers have any issues, they will be covered by the vehicle’s 5-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. We will cooperate with NHTSA as we always do.

The Bronco comes standard with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder turbo engine developing 300 horsepower; The 330-hp 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 at the heart of this flaw investigation is an optional upgrade engine (standard on the top-of-the-line Wildtrak model). NHTSA says up to 25,538 vehicles may be at risk for a fault, where pistons can collide with valves and cause total engine failure at high speeds.

For now, Ford has not announced a recall campaign, although this investigation could most likely be the prelude to it. It’s unfortunately not at all a new routine for Ford lately, which had to announce reminder after reminder across much of its lineup, especially as the company ramped up manufacturing of its most anticipated new models, like the Mustang Mach-E, maverick and, of course, the Bronco.

Brandon Twp.— Half a century ago, Ford Motor Company lowered the throttle and aimed to the Mopar HEMI engine in NASCAR. In 1969, from Dearborn, the limited production BOSS 429 V8 Mustang was released.
About two years later, one of these iconic Ford muscle cars burst into Brandon Township and remains the center of three generations of racing today.
Area resident Floyd Williams purchased the car in 1971 when Fred Grande, owner of a Ford dealership in Richmond, Michigan, dropped the car off for a makeover.
“Grande wanted the Mustang to be a street cane, but ended up with so much more,” said Mike Williams, who received the car from his father Floyd as a gift after graduating from Brandon High School in 1978. Floyd died in 2003 and the car remains in the family.
“The Mustang had about 500 miles on the odometer when Dad bought it,” Mike recalls. “We made a lot of changes to the car over the years, but we kept racing.
Over the next two decades, the Mustang was transformed into a pro-stock class vehicle. The 429 Boss engine was replaced with a 514 cubic inch Ford Cobra Jet, a Dana 60 rear axle with a 456 ratio, 14-inch-wide slicks and a C-6 automatic replaced the 4-speed manual transmission. ‘origin. Much of the bodywork is now fiberglass, and racing seats have replaced the stock interior. However, the main frame, the quarter panels, the roof, the floor remain in original steel.
The Mustang sat in storage for almost 20 years until a few years ago Mike’s son Austin, also a graduate of Brandon High School, encouraged his father to set fire to the ” family car.
“It took me a while to get into it, but I’m happy to get the car back and race,” said Mike.
So, earlier this summer, the William family revved up the Mustang and raced at the Mid Michigan Motorplex, clocking an eighth of a mile in 6.7 seconds.
“It really is a family affair,” Mike said. “My sister Debbie Williams, owner of Something Different here in Ortonville, as well as my wonderful wife of 21 years Anne and my daughters-in-law are all out racing.”

Can anyone beat Chase Elliott for the regular season title? https://scodemustang.com/can-anyone-beat-chase-elliott-for-the-regular-season-title/ Sat, 16 Jul 2022 03:10:37 +0000 https://scodemustang.com/can-anyone-beat-chase-elliott-for-the-regular-season-title/ [Chase] Elliott, [Ryan] Blaney or [Ross] Chastain, who wins the regular season championship? [Chase] Elliott, [Ryan] Blaney or [Ross] Chastain, who wins the regular season championship? Shirley S., Hartford, Conn.

There is a small breakaway of three cars at the top of the points classification. After the Quaker State 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Chase Elliott leads his old friend Ryan Blaney by 47 points, with 2022 standout and Food Lion pugilist Ross Chastain just three points behind. These three drivers are the only drivers within a race of the lead (60 points, including stages) with seven races remaining in the regular season.

It’s the boring pick for sure, but my bet is on Elliott to maintain his current points lead and bring the regular season title back to Dawsonville, Georgia.

Over the past few weeks, Elliott has gone from the guy quietly leading the points to the guy leading the points very hard and obviously, culminating in the win at his home track in Atlanta that made him the only three-time winner in the race so far. now in 2022. The story was ‘how no one noticed Chase Elliott was racing so consistently’, but after two wins and a second-place finish in the last three races, plus a four-straight stage win streak, the story suddenly became: “Can someone arrest Chase Elliott? And I don’t think so.

Blaney might have the best chance. After all, he really warmed up at this time last year and is the defending winner in the upcoming races at Michigan and Daytona. Blaney is the only driver to match Elliott’s total of five stage wins, but has yet to win a points-paying race in 2020. In fact, Blaney is feeling the added pressure. If he fails to win the regular season title from Elliott and there are three new winners (e.g. Martin Truex Jr., Christopher Bell and Kevin Harvick), the No. 12 team could miss out. the playoffs.

But the biggest demerit in Blaney’s column is the little horse in the front of his race car. Of the top nine lap leaders in 2022, fourth-placed Blaney is the only Ford driver. While his Team Penske teammates Joey Logano and Austin Cindric both took wins, as did Stewart-Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe, the Next Gen Mustang didn’t show the same speed, especially on the intermediate tracks. and aero-heavy road courses, like Chevys and Toyotas. . Michigan International Speedway, Pocono Raceway, Watkins Glen International and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course will all likely pose a challenge for the Blue Oval brigade, and for that reason, I don’t see Blaney leaving with the gear.

What about Chastain? He’s shown a pretty remarkable ability to consistently lead in so-called wild card races, winning at Circuit of the Americas and Talladega Superspeedway earlier this year, with two road courses and a superspeedway between now and the playoffs, and Chastain behind the wheel of a slick Chevy Camaro, you’d think the points title was wide open.

Yes, Chastain has been good on road courses and superspeedways this year, and he even has momentum on those types of tracks: he’s riding a two-straight top-five streak at Road America and Atlanta. The problem is, Elliott beat him convincingly in both races. Chastain’s shrewd ability to finish on the periphery of the top five every week in his first season for Trackhouse Racing Team was the biggest surprise of 2022, and when other teams struggled to master Next Gen cars, it would have been enough. Right now, Hendrick Motorsports’ No. 9 is class in the field, and even if they don’t have the best car (see Nashville Superspeedway), the team and driver can fight their way to the top. victoire. For the first time this season, Chastain isn’t the sexiest driver in the garage.

This may not bother Chastain and the Trackhouse team. Trackhouse owner Justin Marks has said on several occasions that he doesn’t care about championships yet, but rather focuses on individual racing performance. To his credit, despite a series of on-track break-ins, Chastain’s results didn’t drop at all, Elliott’s just improved.

Elliott, Blaney and Chastain have always been running forward all season, but since Nashville, the No. 9 team has always been running. at forward, and that will make all the difference.

Is Zane Smith a good option for the [No.] 8 cars in 2024? Harry D., Plano, TX.

Well, the season has definitely gone silly. With the surprise announcement Tuesday July 12 that Tyler Reddick will join Toyota and 23XI Racing for 2024, the social media speculation machine went into a frenzy trying to decide who should take over Reddick’s current Richard Childress Racing seat. in 18 months (if not sooner). Aside from the usual collection of NASCAR Xfinity Series favorites and respected Cup Series mates, one name stood out: NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader Zane Smith.

After dipping his toes in water with just one truck start in 2018 driving a Toyota DGR-Crosley, Smith signed a part-time contract to drive JR Motorsports’ number 8 in the Xfinity Series in 2019. The Huntington Beach, California native made 10 starts that year, scoring just two top five finishes before dropping back down to the Truck Series for 2020. Over the next two years, Smith would win three times for GMS Racing, winning twice the championship 4 and finishing second. on both occasions.

Amazingly, Smith jumped ship from Chevrolet to Ford before the start of 2022, joining Front Row Motorsports to run No. 38. The move has paid off with a career year so far: three wins and the title of the regular season practically blocked. , as well as a 17th-place finish on his Cup Series debut while covering Chris Buescher, who has COVID-19.

The fact that RFK Racing called him up when they needed a reserve driver would indicate that Ford Racing has a high opinion of Smith as a future talent, and beat fellow Cup champion and co-owner Brad Keselowski in his first outing certainly helped his case for the Coupe Series.

The problem is, after completely dominating the Truck Series, where does Smith go next? RFK Racing and Team Penske have ended their Xfinity Series programs in recent years, and Stewart-Haas Racing has switched to a single car, Riley Herbst’s #98, which brings sponsorship and has shown real signs of improvement. in 2022. RSS Racing, owned by the Sieg family, and SS-Green Light Racing, winners of Auto Club Speedway this season with Cole Custer, are the only other Ford-backed operations in the Xfinity Series, and while both teams have raced forward this season, neither has the budget to really race for the title.

Should Smith leave Ford Racing? With Austin Cindric entering the Cup Series this season, he is its most promising lower-series driver, so Ford is unlikely to want to let him go. He could pull a Reddick and try to prepare for the RCR open seat by joining RCR’s Xfinity program, and there may also be open seats in the Chevrolet family at JRM or Kaulig Racing depending on where the dominoes of the Cup fall.

Still, the far more likely outcome is either one of the Ford’s Cup teams bringing back their Xfinity program or SHR expanding to a second car. As far as the Ford Motor Company is concerned, money isn’t much of an issue, and with Keselowski likely thinking of retirement in the next few years, Smith could find himself the clear favorite for the famous No. 6 sooner rather than later. .

Smith will probably need at least a year in Xfinity before any Cup contending team (RCR or anyone else) will give him a chance, but I have no doubt that Ford is ready for it. help to take this step. I predict we will hear a lot more about Smith in the years to come.

DETROIT, July 14 (Reuters) – General Motors Co’s (GM.N) electric Chevy Blazer SUV will be vital to the automaker’s efforts to nab Tesla Inc in the U.S. electric vehicle market, but until it arrives in showrooms next year, it will battle a host of vehicles to run second in a segment dominated by Tesla’s Model Y.

The traffic jams of the next few years in the electric SUV segment could define the winners and losers of the US automotive market for years to come.

The U.S. electric SUV market segment is expected to more than double to 2 million vehicles per year by 2026, according to AutoForecast Solutions, which tracks automakers’ future production plans. However, more than 90 models could be competing for very small slices of that pie, AutoForecast Solutions and other analysts said.

Join now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com

Tesla’s Model Y is by far the best-selling electric SUV today, and most analysts expect that to remain the case four years from now.

LMC Automotive predicts that by 2025, the Model Y will account for 15.6% of a 13-vehicle compact and midsize electric SUV segment, including Ford Motor Co (FN) Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai ( 005380.KS) Ioniq5, and the future R2S compact SUV from Rivian (RIVN.O). Chevy’s Blazer is expected to be in second place, but with just 6.6% of segment sales.

Bank of America analyst John Murphy warned last month in his annual “Car Wars” assessment of future models that automakers risk saturating the market with electric and conventional crossover utility vehicles, or CUVs.

“SUV segment profitability is likely to decline significantly over time as competition intensifies,” Murphy wrote.

Faced with this competitive challenge, Chevrolet dealerships will begin taking customer reservations for the electric Blazer on July 18, months before the vehicles are promised to arrive in the spring of 2023.

Brad Sowers, owner of the Jim Butler Auto Group, which includes three Chevrolet stores in Missouri, said customers were already asking about the electric Blazer, and the Equinox electric SUV that GM says will start at $30,000, or about half the price of a Model Y. Sowers expects the Blazer to start at $36,000.

“It’s interesting to me because I’m in the Midwest, certainly not early adopters of anything. But I’ll tell you, I think people are excited about not only the Blazer but also the Equinox. “, said Sowers.

GM chief executive Mary Barra aims to deliver 400,000 new electric vehicles in North America in 2022 and 2023. Successful launches of the Blazer and Equinox will be key to achieving that goal.

So far this year, GM is lagging not only Tesla, but also Ford and Hyundai in the U.S. EV market. GM’s best-selling electric vehicle, the Chevy Bolt, went out of production for months due to a battery recall. Production of new electric vehicle models, including the GMC Hummer EV, Cadillac Lyriq and Chevrolet Silverado electric pickup, is just beginning.

GM’s decision to start promoting the electric Blazer until launch could help Chevy dealerships “keep the buzz going” as Ford and other brands ramp up sales of the new electric vehicles they have today, it said. said Chevy dealers.

“It’s about keeping the interest in the EV space going as it relates to the Chevy brand because we’re really stuck with a vehicle that we can’t really sell in the Bolt EV,” said Steve Hurley, partner. director at Stingray Chevrolet in Plant. City, Florida, east of Tampa.

EXCLUSIVE: Google’s dogfight with TikTok for dominance in the shorthand video space has a new battleground – the courts.

The UK’s Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, to be precise, and a potential David in Shorts International Ltd trying to tackle the tech goliath. In what could become long-term dust, London-based parent company ShortsTV filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Google on June 23 over the company’s YouTube Shorts division.

In the chart-rich dossier (read it here), SILs claim that the branding and promise of YouTube Shorts, which launched in 2020 as a sizable rival to the burgeoning ByteDance-owned TikTok, “is very similar , even identical” to those of the 2008 unveiled ShortsTV.

“In addition and increasingly, when Google uses the Devices in association with the YouTube sign, or the Google Sign YouTube Shorts, members of the public are likely to assume that Google, through YouTube, owns or has acquired the mark,” says SIL. about its owns 13,000 strong titles and AMPAS affiliate ShortsTV.

Last month’s filing comes as SIL is already battling Google’s efforts to “invalidate” the company’s trademarks. ShortsTV, founded by Carter Pilcher, which includes AMC Networks as a minority shareholder in its owner Shorts Entertainment Holdings, has seen Google YouTube Shorts apps run by Sundar Pichai stay on the other side of the Atlantic for now – although this latest lawsuit could prove the pin that is pulled in the global grenade.

“Google has used, in the course of business, without the consent of SIL, signs similar to the Trademarks in connection with goods and services which are identical or similar to the goods and services for which the Trademarks are registered or some of them”, says the injunction filed June 23 and potentially seeks hundreds of millions of dollars in unspecified damages to seek action.”Due to the similarity, there is a likelihood of confusion in the minds of the relevant public,” adds the 14-page document: “At trial, SIL will seek redress for all acts of infringement of Google’s trademarks.”

PA

As part of this lawsuit, SIL, which owns the ShortsTV brands in the UK, EU, India and America, essentially wants YouTube Shorts in its current form to be shut down and blown up. A result that would surely cede the lucrative short form arena to the flourishing TikTok.

To give an idea of the stakes, YouTube announced last month that more than 1.5 billion logged-in users watch YouTube Shorts every month. TikTok’s latest like-for-like data release had more than a billion monthly users on the dance platform as of September 2021. Ultimately, Google generated nearly $257 billion in revenue last year. Backed by ad sales, TikTok made around $4 billion in revenue in 2021, with that figure expected to at least triple this year.

Shorts International Ltd achieved revenues of $11m in 2020 and $6.8m in 2021 as the company transitioned to an ad-supported model in the US last year.

Google did not respond to Deadline’s request to comment on SIL’s new legal step.

ShortsTV, on the other hand, had a lot to say outside about its filing.

“It’s really saddening,” CEO Pilcher told Deadline of the standoff between the two companies. “A massive company decides to adopt a brand image that we consider almost identical to our own, and which we have spent decades of concerted effort to build into a recognized and respected name in our industry, and when it is challenged, she is asking for the cancellation of our trademarks worldwide, rather than seeking an amicable solution. This is unfortunately the position that ShortsTV faces, and we had no choice but to pursue this litigation as a last resort. We hope the Court will agree that Google has infringed our trademarks.

Adding a cruel irony to all of this is the fact that the tens of millions of views ShortsTV has racked up over its own history are largely on the company’s YouTube channel.

Chevy introduced the Camaro in 1967 to combat the big dogs that Ford and Dodge were making in the 60s. Like the Mustang, the Camaro became one of the best-known American names in the sports coupe segment.

The Camaro received a redesign in 2016 that made it angrier and more powerful than ever. Sixth-generation Camaro model years come in four to eight different trim levels. However, due to some common issues, not all model years offer the best value. In another article, we discussed in depth the problems of six-generation Chevy Camaros.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the best performance you could get from a sixth-generation Camaro, the most economical versions, and the models that offer the best value.

Best performance: The Chevy Camaro ZL1 edition has 650 horsepower

While you might think the newer 2022 Camaro ZL1 should have better performance over the previous model year, Chevrolet hasn’t changed the powertrain on the nameplate’s most powerful model since 2017. In fact, the only performance-oriented upgrade to the Camaro ZL1 was the 1LE package that Chevrolet added to models from 2018 onwards. advanced.

But hey, the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 fitted to the Camaro ZL1 isn’t weak at all. While it may fall short of its rivals, 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque are still considered insane for a car with an MSRP well below the $70,000 mark. As expected, fuel efficiency is not a priority for the Camaro ZL1. Based on EPA estimates, the 2022 model produces 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway (16 MPG combined).

Besides the 10-speed automatic transmission, owners can opt for a manual transmission for a more immersive and engaging driving experience, which the all-new Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 lacks.

So if you’re looking to squeeze the most power out of a Camaro, the ZL1 editions from 2018 should be nearly identical in terms of acceleration and track performance. If you can compromise some minor interior features, like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, opting for a 2018 Camaro ZL1 can save you a few thousand dollars.

By the way, as long as you’re willing to pay the bills, Hennessey is happy to offer you its modified 1000 horsepower Camaro ZL1, dubbed the Exorcists. Exorcists can sprint from idle to 60 mph in under 2.1 seconds.

The most economical: The 2016 Chevy Camaro 1LT is a performance coupe at an affordable price

If you’re looking for a sixth-generation Camaro but are on a tight budget, the 2016 1LT model should be your choice. Based on Kelley Blue Book prices, it’s possible to find one on the used market for well under $20,000. Chevrolet offers a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine as standard. Although it doesn’t follow the ZL1, the base 2016 Camaro produces 275 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque, which is still impressive. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic or an optional manual that sends power to the rear wheels.

In addition to being more affordable, the four-cylinder powertrain is significantly more fuel efficient. With the automatic transmission, the base 2016 Camaro is rated at 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 on the highway (25 combined).

According to the Repair Pal website, a 2016 Chevy Camaro costs around $650 to maintain in a year. That’s when the annual cost of owning a 2016 Ford Mustang sits at over $740. Fortunately, the 2016 model doesn’t have many common issues. According to the Car Complaints website, the 2017 model has more registered owner complaints.

Most valuable: The 2018 Chevy Camaro 1SS is a hassle-free powerhouse

Last but not least, the 2018 Camaro 1SS stretches your dollar the furthest. You can find one on the used market for around $30,000. Chevrolet has placed a massive 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 under the hood of the Camaro 1SS capable of developing 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. With launch control enabled, the 2018 Camaro SS can hit 60 mph in just 4 seconds flat.

The 2018 model is less problematic than its previous model years. According to the JD Power website, the 2018 model gets a reliability rating of 82 out of 100, impressive for a sports coupe.

According to various reputable automotive sources, the 2016 Camaro has no problem reaching 150,000 miles on the odometer without any major overhauls.
